We're launching a PledgeMusic campaign for Lucky Guy. Your pre-order and pledge will help us print vinyl, CDs and posters, as well as hire a publicist and a radio promoter to work with us around our summer and fall tour dates. Every dollar you pledge will go toward promoting our album and tour dates.
We've had great shows over the past few years, but touring and promotion expenses have been high. Now we have a fantastic debut album on deck and we need your help to make a splash. Below is our PledgeMusic video — please watch and share.
GREG HUMPHREYS ELECTRIC TRIO // LUCKY GUY
Song-wise, the Lucky Guy LP tells a story of a happy time in my life. I met an amazing woman, moved to a new place, had a son, got married. The title track, "Lucky Guy," is a song sweet, loving, and true. Felt so good to write this song. It's poignant that writing a song like this in 2016 is akin to capturing lightning in a bottle. Not all the songs are sweet; there are songs of struggle ("So Fucked Up"), suffering ("Someday I'll Have my Due"), and anger ("Sayin' What You Mean").
This album is also a manifestation of our trio's musical relationship. These are tunes we've shedded, arranged, and worked out live over two years of playing together. The second track "Crosstown," a co-write between myself and our talented bassist Matt Brandau, is really the musical collaboration that led to the forming of our Electric Trio with drummer Keith Robinson. The instrumental "Golden Bone" is a chance for us to release our inner Zeppelin.
We recorded the basic tracks at Overdub Lane in Durham NC with my old friend John Plymale. We crafted the recording further at Keith's Brooklyn studio. Erik Deutsch played some fantastic B3 organ and electric piano for us over at Grand Street Recording. Keith mixed, Greg Calbi mastered. A lot of love and care was put into this recording! We hope you enjoy it. Available June 14 on vinyl, CD, and digital. Pre-order here.

MORE NEW MUSIC: SONG FOR BERNIE, GHET LIVE RECORDINGS
Here's a tune I recently wrote, recorded, and shared, "Comin' To Get You," inspired by Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders and the political movement he represents. Fans of the more Marvin Gaye / Curtis Mayfield side of my songwriting will surely love this one! If you disagree politically, that's cool too. Think you'll still like it.

NEW GHET LIVE RECORDINGS
Greg Humphreys Electric Trio (we've been calling ourselves GHET lately for short — GHET it?) had some terrific shows in February with some exceptional guest musicians. Two of these sets were captured by discerning tapers and shared on Archive.org.
Below, stream or download our recent Brooklyn Bowl set with Erik Deutsch (Citizen Cope, Shooter Jennings, Leftover Salmon, etc) on the B3 Organ. Also stream or download our Virginia Key Grassroots Festival set, featuring Adam Scone (Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, JJ Grey & Mofro, The Sugarman 3) on the B3 Organ. Trio + 1 = very fun.
