Gearing up for the next leg of our Lucky Guy tour. Made it back unscathed from our big trip earlier this month. THANK YOU to all of you wonderful people who have come out and supported us! A special thanks to our friends and family who hosted us along the way. Your kindness and hospitality made it possible.
Great press continues for the Lucky Guy LP! I enjoyed writing about one of my first 45s, Jackson Browne's "Running On Empty," for The Vinyl District's First Date Series. The Vinyl District also premiered two tracks from Lucky Guy – "Sayin' What You Mean" and "So Fucked Up." Lucky Guy received a glowing album review from Elmore Magazine as well: 90 out of 100. A minus, baby.
We're wrapping up the fulfillment of our Lucky Guy PledgeMusic campaign orders this week. Pledgers should find their orders in the mailbox early next week! Excited to get these items into your hands. Feeling SO MUCH gratitude for your help in making this album and tour happen. It can be a rough market these days for original music-makers; I am truly lucky to have friends and fans willing to spend their hard-earned dough and help give our Electric Trio a fighting chance.
LUCKY GUY TOUR CONTINUES...
Greg Humphreys Electric Trio warms up here in BKLYN with a show Friday, July 22 at Hometown Bar-B-Que in Red Hook. As with our recent album release show under the Archway, this show is family-friendly and free. Matt, Keith and I are doing a special run of double bills in the Carolinas next week with my old friend Mark Bryan, million-selling songwriter and guitarist for Hootie and the Blowfish. We'll be at The Windjammer in Isle of Palms SC on Thursday, July 28 with Occasional Milkshake, Mark's group with Hootie's Gary Green and The Blue Dogs' Hank Futch. Sittin' In a Tree, Mark's group with his wife Wendy, will join us on Friday, July 29 at 185 King Street in Brevard NC and on Saturday, July 30 at The Blind Tiger in Greensboro NC.
STAND AGAINST HB2 — DILLON FENCE
Dillon Fence (Scott Carle, Chris Goode, Kent Alphin, myself) make what might be our only appearance of the year on Sunday Jluy 31 to support an important cause — the fight against the regressive House Bill 2 passed by the current North Carolina Legislature and Governor. This edition of Stand Against HB2 is an all-day benefit concert, held at Brooklyn Arts Centre in Wilmington NC. An impressive roster of North Carolina acts will be performing. Dillon Fence plays a short 8p set. The Electric Trio will also be performing a short set at 3p. Buy your advance tickets here and come stand against hate with us!
BE LOUD '16 — HOBEX
Hobex is also making a rare appearance soon for an important cause: Be Loud '16 weekend, held at the Cat's Cradle on August 26 and 27. We'll be rocking an old-school trio version of the band, with bassist Andy Ware, myself, and drummer Rob Ladd. Rob performed with the band at its genesis in the mid-90s and has played with the band in recent years as well. English Beat headlines on August 26, Hobex will perform with local super-group Preeesh! and Chris Stamey on August 27. Buy your advance tickets here.
More soon,
Greg
